UZ News - Local Musician Fred Garcia Passes Away

Legendary Local Musician Fred Garcia, age 61 of Gulf Breeze passed away August 29th from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Fred was a graduate of Catholic High School where he was a star athlete in both baseball and football. Upon graduation, he followed his passion for music. He was well known in the Pensacola music circles as a member of such bands as the Scoundrels. His greatest popularity was derived when he began playing with family members Paul and Lucy to create the group "The Garcia's". Fred was an accomplished saxophone player as well as a lead vocalist and conga player. Fred Garcia was 61.
